Rokeya Sultana
Sultana completed her B.F.A. (Printmaking) from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1980. This was followed by an M.F.A. (Printmaking) at the Visva Bharati University at Santiniketan, India. Over the course of her career, she has received numerous awards like the Honorable Mention Award in ainting-9th Asian Biennale (1999), French Government Grant- L’Atelier Lacouriere et Frelaut (2003) and the Fulbright Research Award by the University of Nebraska (2012). She has been a part of more than 200 exhibitions in Bangladesh and abroad. Her most recent solo exhibitions were; “Everyday Madonna” 2019 Casula Power House art center in New South Wales, Recent Acquisitions 2018 exhibition at Blacktown Arts, Sydney and the vast exhibition done for fifteen years at the Bengal Shilpaloy. She has also participated in the Tokyo International Mini-Print Triennale in 2018 and the International Women’s day exhibition at the Salle des Pas Perdus in Paris. She has taken part in art festivals and workshops in India, Bhutan and Sydney. Her works are in the collection of several museums and private collections like the Bangladesh National Museum, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, University of Nebraska, The Museum of International Contemporary Graphic Fredrikstand, Norway and Gonabhaban (President’s House of Bangladesh).
