Born in 1958, Ajit Seal completed his Diploma in Painting from Govt. College of Art & Crafts, Assam in 1979. After which he pursued his Master’s in Graphics from Kala Bhavan Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. He has participated in various solo and group exhibitions since 1983. His works have been displayed in cities like New Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow and Bhopal. He has been the recipient of several awards over the years. His most recent solo exhibitions were 2012-Indo-USA printmaking exhibition under the title of “Multiple Encounters Second Edition”, 2014- ICCR Kolkata where he presented an Exhibition of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic on the occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, 2015- National Exhibition of contemporary art at Nagpur and 2015- Mini Print Exhibition at Goa. He has earlier served as the Head of Graphic Department at the Govt. College of Art & Crafts, Assam and is currently the Associate Professor of Graphic Art, Kala Bhavan, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan.
