S.M. Rokonuzzaman completed his B.F.A in Department of Printmaking, Dhaka University (D.U). He received M.F.A Degree in Graphics Department from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, India. After joining the department of Printmaking at Dhaka University as a part time teacher, he became a permanent in 2008. In 2010, he got the Japanese Government Research Scholarship, after which he experimented on platography. He also received a Ph.D. Degree in 2017 from Dhaka University. As a practicing artist for many years, he has worked with various mediums like wood block print, intaglio and lithography. He participated in major national and international events including various Biennials, Triennials and especially the International Triennial of Graphic Art BTIOLA (Macedonia), Prints Tokyo (Japan), Asian Art Biennale, GAWA Annual International Watercolor Online Contest. He is the recipient of many awards including the Elizabeth Green shields Award (Canada), Best Award in Print Making at 15th Young Artists Art Exhibition (Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy), Best Award in Print Making at 16th Young Artists Art Exhibition (Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy) etc. He also attended various workshops and art camps. Currently, he lives in Dhaka and works as an Associate Professor in Department of Printmaking, Faculty of Fine Art, Dhaka University.
