Satya Dheer Singh
Satya Dheer Singh, born on November 10, 1982, in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), India, is an accomplished artist known for his unique figurative style. He completed his B.F.A. in 2006 and B.A. in 2001 from the University of Allahabad. His artistic journey has been shaped by his keen interest in Hindi literature and his early exposure to the rich cultural heritage of his hometown. He has received numerous prestigious grants, including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant in 2020-21 and 2024-25. He has been honored with multiple awards, such as the First City Award (2015-2016) by Prafulla Dhanukar Art Foundation and several American Art Awards. He has held several solo exhibitions, including “Wings to Fly” at India Habitat Centre, Delhi (2024), and “Earthy Pleasure of Nature and Colours” at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2023). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. His work often explores the lives of middle-class individuals, blending past and present through dynamic brush strokes and a restrained palette, primarily in black, white, and grey. His art, characterized by bold lines and contrasts, conveys a sense of movement and storytelling, drawing from his literary inspirations and personal experiences. He currently resides and works in South Delhi, where his studio is located.
