Wakilur Rahman was born in 1961 in Bangladesh. He completed his B.F.A. at Dhaka Art College in 1981 and went on to pursue his M.F.A. at the Central Academy of Fine Arts Peking, P.R. of China in 1986. He then took part in the Art in Context, UDK, Berlin, Germany from 1993-1997. He is currently a freelance artist and an independent curator. Since 2014, he has curated several exhibitions at the Dhaka Art Center and recently at Kalakendra, Dhaka. His works have been shown in more than 60 solo exhibitions in China, Bangladesh and Germany. Since 1991, Rahman has been participating in international fairs, art festivals, biennales and triennials in Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Cuba, France, Germany, India, Japan, Lithuania, Macedonia, Myanmar, Norway, Poland, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates & United States of America. He has been a visiting faculty for the Architecture department in Asia Specific University and Bangladesh University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
