While history records numbers, names and events, art evokes emotions and thoughts. From times immemorial, art has existed as a vehicle to express memories, some ephemeral and others deeply etched, and yet refreshingly different in all of its forms. There is an inexplicable relationship between art, artist and his/her memory, the value and narrative of these memories enrich art, drawing the viewer closer to the artists’ perception of experienced reality.

An eclectic mix of 11 artists from far and wide has come together with a collection of artists’ books, working on a singular theme of MEMORIES. This show puts the artists and their memories in focus, encouraging multiple stories and perspectives.

Every book stems from deeper exploration of the lives of these artists and their unique experiences, making it a personalized window into the artist’s world, given their varied backgrounds. Some of the artists’ books created here challenge the conventional book format. What is more interesting is that the exhibits are a variety of mediums (drawing, digital prints, printmaking, photography, painting, embossing, etc..) and topics (social, socio-political, personal recollections) which challenge the viewers’ senses and sensibilities.
