INDIA HABITAT CENTRE, NEW DELHI
PRARAMBH
Group Show
Facilitated by
9th October - 12th October, 2014
Prarambh, meaning “a new beginning,” was conceived as a platform to showcase the creative works of visual art students from across India. The festival brought together over 250 artworks from students representing more than 30 institutions, making it the first initiative of its kind in the country. This landmark event provided a space for young, vibrant voices to express themselves through their art, offering audiences a glimpse into the creative minds shaping the cultural landscape of tomorrow. The festival celebrated the uninhibited spirit of students at a pivotal moment in their journey, before the pressures of professional life could alter their raw expression. Through their works, these budding artists voiced their deepest emotions, exploring themes of angst, joy, frustration, and hope, often using personal symbolism. Alongside individual narratives, the artworks reflected a collective dialogue about societal issues, including ecological concerns, shifting cultural values, and the challenges faced by women in post-liberalization India. Prarambh was more than just an exhibition—it was a celebration of art’s ability to capture the simple joys of life while provoking thought about the world we inhabit. Visitors were invited to engage not just as spectators but as participants in this creative journey. The festival was a testament to the unfiltered talent and perspectives of the next generation of artists, marking a significant moment in their artistic evolution.
